The coverage grid at the bottom of the Schedule by Day view provides a quick summary of staffing coverage throughout the day. It helps managers easily understand how many labor hours are scheduled at any given time and how coverage is distributed across different job roles.
What the Coverage Grid Shows
The grid displays hour-by-hour totals of scheduled hours, broken down by job code.
1. Total Row
The Total row shows the total number of scheduled hours for each hour of the day across all job roles.
This allows managers to quickly see overall labor coverage throughout the day.
Example:
If the number under 4 PM shows 28, it means there are 28 total scheduled labor hours at that time across all positions.
2. Job Code Rows
Below the Total row, the grid displays rows for each job code (for example: Kitchen, Manager, Server, etc.).
Each row shows the number of scheduled hours for that specific role during each hour.
Example:
If the Manager row shows 17 at 1 PM, it means there are 17 manager labor hours scheduled at that time.
If the Kitchen row shows 7 at 4 PM, it means there are 7 kitchen labor hours scheduled at that time.
Why This Is Helpful
The coverage grid helps managers:
Quickly review labor coverage throughout the day
Identify potential understaffed or overstaffed periods
Ensure proper role coverage (for example, enough managers or kitchen staff during peak hours)
Make scheduling adjustments faster without needing to review individual shifts
When to Use It
The coverage grid is especially useful when:
Reviewing schedules before publishing
Adjusting staffing for busy hours
Ensuring each job code has adequate coverage
Comparing labor coverage across different times of the day
